ABOUT ME

Everyone always asks, “When did you start doing theatre?”

My answer is, “I am the kid that never stopped.” From as early as I can remember, we always were putting some production on for our neighborhood with brown paper bag set pieces, wardrobes from our attics, and stories from our favorite books. I have been telling stories ever since.

My formal design education began when I dual-enrolled and then got an A.S. in Visual Arts at NWFSC. I continued on to double major in Music and Theatre at University of Mobile, and then went on to earn my MFA in Scenic Design at the University of Southern Mississippi. While in grad school I received various awards from the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival for my design work and was able to present my design for “Violet” in nationals at the Kennedy Center.

During my time in school and since graduating I have worked in various sized houses, sometimes working as my own TD, carpenter, and painter and sometimes designing with full shop support. A wise mentor once said that the budget and the shop should never limit your dreams, any concept can be adapted to the resources at hand. That is what I endeavor to do. I let the kid inside me dream.
